In honor of Cleveland Beer Week, each Burntwood Tavern in Northeast Ohio will feature a different craft draught beer from the Stone Brewing Company each day of the week!
Our 'Rolling Stone' Beer Week will run from 10/13 thru 10/17.
Monday - Chagrin Falls
Stone Bang Bang Red Ale aged in Bourbon Barrels
This beer is all about the caramel. Caramel aroma on the nose, with caramel malt flavors up front on the first taste, with some bourbon integrated with the caramel malts. Finish is short with lots of bourbon and oak flavors. Super clean, crisp beer, with no added heat from the bourbon barrel aging
Tuesday - Rocky River
Stone Arbalest (Belgian Ale aged in Bourbon Barrels)
Appearance of the beer is pale orange with lingering foam. Caramel, bourbon, and spicy yeast aromas on the nose. Taste is of crisply bitter hops and peach and apricot stone fruit from the aroma hops, caramel and sweet oak flavors from the malt and bourbon barrel aging, and spice, floral, and fruity esters from the fermentation. The rich caramel flavors from the crystal malts, and vanilla and sweet flavors of the bourbon barrel give this beer a lot of mouthfeel and richness without being satiating. This is a bourbon barrel aged beer you can drink by the pint.
Wednesday - Solon
Arrogant Bastard Ale aged in Bourbon Barrels (ABV: 7.5%)
Really hoppy beer even after the extended barrel aging, with hops come through right up front and lingering through the finish. Bourbon, oak, and malt all work together in this beer and synergistically enhance one another. The result is a beer with tons of dark roast malt, a little spice from the oak, and caramel flavors, melded in with the previously cited hop attack. The distinct vanilla and butterscotch flavors from the bourbon add a ton of depth on the mid-palate. An awesome, intensely flavored beer you can drink by the pint.
Barrels: 100% Kentucky
Thursday - Brecksville
Stone Reason Be Damned Abbey Style Ale aged in Red Wine Barrels (ABV: 8%)
Big fruity nose. Lots of peach, plum and pineapple. Dry flavor with a clean brett presence. The red wine barrels bring everything together making this a complex beer. This Belgian Style Abbey Ale was brewed specifically for barrel ageing and the ending results are pretty amazing.
Barrels: This batch was from South Coast Winery in Temecula and composed of mixed reds, mostly 5 year old barrels, and a mix of French and American puncheons and Bordeaux barrels. They were all full of Brettanomyces. Native Brettanomyces from Southern California gives a lot of the signature character of this blend.
Friday - Cuyahoga Falls
Stone Cali- Belgique IPA aged in Red Wine Barrels (ABV: 8.8%)
Loads of Brettanomyces secondary fermentation character gives this beer an intense floral character, especially of roses and geraniums. Wine comes through with notes of guava and wine tannin. Wine barrels used included Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and Sonoma County Pinot Noir.
